Job Summary

The Role

This heavily backed Brisbane based SaaS scale up is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to help set the foundations for future growth. Due to rapid customer growth and having received substantial funding for a global expansion, this technology business is in need of an accomplished leader to work alongside the CTO to help them scale. This company develops leading edge cloud-based software and has advanced big data collection, automation and analytics capabilities at its core. Their customer base is already over 20,000 subscribers across 15 countries with plans to scale global hubs in North America and Europe.

Contribution Needed

  • Manage and scale a high calibre engineering team who are producing high quality software
  • Coach and mentor an emerging leadership team hungry for guidance & career growth
  • Work alongside an accomplished leadership team where you will contribute to future product, technology and people roadmaps 
  • Introduce talent management and evolve agile principles to help engineering thrive
  • Introduce maturity in project management and product prioritisation
  • Play a key role in linking customer expectations with the product, engineering, operations, analytics, automation, and customer success teams
  • Set direction for building a high performing engineering team locally and assess options for how to access global talent through remote working

Role Success Factors

  • You are an accomplished Engineering Manager with experience in leading talented groups of Software Engineers, ideally across multiple teams, disciplines and locations
  • You have experience helping start-ups achieve scale by improving global engineering capacity
  • You are a collaborative leader where you can bring people together to agree on direction, improvements, changes, standards, tools and ways of working
  • You have a breadth of skills across people leadership, engineering management, project/product management, customer engagement and continuous improvement
  • You are an empathetic manager with a proven track record of engaging, developing and attracting top talent
  • You are an adaptable leader where you “think like a corporate but act like a start-up”
  • You play well with others…this business has a young, capable, and passionate leadership team with a very flat hierarchy that they will look to protect as they grow
