About the role 
The Strategic Business Architect will be pivotal in industrialising strategic business architecture services that align with the agency's goals for customer focused design to be embedded into the way the organisation operates.

The Strategic Business Architect will work closely with the Director of Business Architecture, workforce planning and learning development teams to build out the tools and training materials required to standardise and mature the Business Architecture Practice and build the capabilities and knowledge of junior business architects in the team and across the Agency.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a set of standardised tools and templates that will enable the Business Architecture team to consistently deliver its service offer to the Agency, aligning to relevant internal strategy, business architecture and design frameworks.
  • Develop processes, guidance documentation and training materials that will enable the resources within the Business Architecture team to undertake services consistently and in alignment with industry best practice approaches and aligning to relevant internal strategy, business architecture and design frameworks.
  • Support the establishment of a Business Architecture Community of Practice with relevant business areas across the Agency and seek to extend this to APSC digital profession communities and other government departments.
  • Take the initiative in achieving outcomes, progressing work, reviewing performance, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with business architects in the team and partner with the workforce planning and learning development teams to plan, drive and implement this work.
 
Key skills and experience required:
  • Minimum of 5 years Business Architecture experience
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic business architecture, with a proven ability to engage with senior business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in business architecture methodologies and tools
  • Demonstrated experience in learning design and training
  • Industry certification in Business Architecture
